National Simultaneous Storytime : 27 May

What happens when you combine the magic of early childhood education with the high-energy teamwork of sports coaching? You get an unforgettable, interactive celebration for National Simultaneous Storytime!

ALIA's National Simultaneous Storytime is an event that celebrates literacy, imagination and connection through the joy of shared reading – a mission that mirrors our own.

Every year, a picture book created by an Australian author and illustrator is chosen for a free nationwide reading event unlike any other. Millions gather in schools, libraries, homes, preschools and bookshops to read the same story, at the same time, out loud, together.

In 2026, that picture book is Luna Roo. A full-throttle, tail-thumping, goal-scoring, underdog story that brings the excitement off the pitch – and the page – and into an unmissable story time event on 27 May2026 at 12.00pm AEST

Today, our Atlantis Ocean Keys Early Learning Centre gathered all the children and spent time reading, learning and engaging in a sporting activity, in line with the sweet story. Our TAG sports coaches got involved too.

By uniting the expertise of our educators and sports coaches, we proved that literacy doesn't have to be a sedentary activity. Merging storytime with gross motor skills helps children process narratives in a whole new way, reinforcing vocabulary through physical action and fostering a deep love for reading.

A huge thank you to our incredible team for showing our community how powerful collaboration can be!
