What is to be Expected of My Role as An Early Childhood Educator?

Educators in early childhood play one of the most important roles in shaping a child’s first experiences with the world. At Tall Tree, our teams of teachers, trainees, room leaders, coordinators and staff support children from birth to five years through play, discovery and meaningful relationships.

  • Create safe and welcoming environments: Every child feels valued, supported and included.
  • Design inspiring learning spaces: Guided by the Reggio Emilia philosophy and the Early Years Learning Framework, educators set up areas that spark exploration and imagination.
  • Encourage play and discovery: Learning happens through hands-on experiences that build creativity, confidence and connection.
  • Observe and support development: Educators track each child’s growth, adapting experiences to their individual interests and needs.
  • Build partnerships with families: Regular communication ensures parents are part of their child’s learning journey.
  • Promote wellbeing: From nutrition to emotional safety, every child’s health and happiness come first.
  • Lead by example: Whether teaching, mentoring, cooking or coordinating, each team member shapes a child’s sense of curiosity and belonging.
