Is Your 3–4 Year Old Ready for Their Next Big Adventure?

Your little one is growing up fast. One minute they’re learning to put their shoes on, and the next they’re asking questions, making friends, sharing their big ideas and becoming more independent every day.

Between the ages of 3 and 4, so much development happens — and it’s an incredibly important time to build the foundations for their future learning.

That’s where our 3+ School Readiness Program comes in.

At Tall Tree Early Learning, we believe school readiness starts well before your child puts on their first school uniform. Our dedicated two-year School Readiness Program gives children aged 3+ the time, support and experiences they need to grow into confident, capable and enthusiastic learners.

More than getting ready for school

When we talk about school readiness, we're not just talking about learning letters and numbers.

For a 3–4 year old, being school ready means developing the confidence to walk into a new environment, make friends, communicate their needs, listen to others, manage their emotions, have a go at something new and become increasingly independent.

Every day at our centres, children are learning these skills through play, relationships, routines and intentional learning experiences.

They are building the foundations that will help them confidently take their next step into primary school.

Start at 3 and grow with us

Our two-year School Readiness Program, led by a qualified Early Childhood Teacher, is designed to give your child plenty of time to develop at their own pace.

Rather than rushing children through a checklist of skills, we get to know each child — their interests, strengths, personality and individual learning journey.

Every child has an Individual Development Plan, with personalised learning goals and six-monthly development check-ins with families.

This means we can celebrate what your child is doing well, identify where they may need additional support and work together with you to help them reach their potential.

Building confident, independent little people

For children aged 3–4, some of the biggest steps towards school readiness happen in everyday moments.

Can they:

🎒 Look after their belongings?
👟 Have a go at getting dressed independently?
🍎 Manage their lunch and drink bottle?
💬 Express their needs and ideas?
🤝 Build friendships and play cooperatively?
🧩 Solve little problems for themselves?
👂 Listen and follow instructions?
❤️ Recognise and manage their emotions?
🌱 Feel confident trying something new?

These are the skills that help children feel capable and confident when they eventually start school.

And we give children plenty of opportunities to practise them.

Making "big school" feel exciting

As your child gets closer to starting school, our program becomes even more focused on making the transition a positive and exciting experience.

During the six months before school, children can take part in experiences designed to make their next adventure feel familiar.

We invite teachers, Principals and guest speakers from local primary schools to connect with the children and talk about what they can expect when they start school.

Children also learn practical skills such as packing and eating from a school lunch box, helping them build independence and confidence with school routines.

By the time their first day arrives, "big school" isn't such a big unknown anymore.

A place where friendships grow

One of the most important parts of preparing for school is learning how to be part of a community.

At our centres, children spend their days surrounded by educators and friends who know them, care about them and encourage them.

They learn how to share, negotiate, cooperate, listen, communicate and solve problems together.

They discover that learning can be fun, that mistakes are okay and that having a go is something to be proud of.

These experiences help develop the social and emotional confidence children need as they move into primary school.

Why now is the perfect time to start

If your child is 3 or 4 years old, now is an ideal time to start thinking about their school readiness journey.

You don't need to wait until the year before school.

Starting early gives your child time to develop their skills naturally, build strong relationships with their educators, become familiar with routines and gradually grow in confidence and independence.

Most importantly, they get to enjoy being three and four — learning through play, curiosity, friendships and experiences that are meaningful to them.

Give your child the foundations to thrive

Your child's journey to school is about so much more than being able to recognise their letters or count to 20.

It's about helping them become a confident, curious, independent and resilient little learner who is excited to discover what comes next.

Our 3+ School Readiness Program is designed to support that journey over two important years — giving your child the time, relationships and experiences they need to thrive.

If you have a 3–4 year old, we'd love to show you what their next two years could look like at Tall Tree Early Learning.
